In this interview with JLL VP Yann Palmore he speaks to the importance of needing champions in companies who understand how to navigate the world of operational technology (OT).
With a background in technology, he discovered the world of smart building technology. Palmore believes it is essential to look at sustainability and technology holistically. It is extremely unlikely there will be a silver bullet, one particular thing that solves the problem. We need to approach the relationship as an integrated design process.
The quality of the workplace, right down to the air quality and lighting can have an effect on the cognitive function of those working there. Palmore explains how although IT has long been understood and respected within the effective running of a business, OT is yet to get the respect it deserves. Looking to the future, Palmore believes data is key to drive the next several iterations of energy savings and improved wellness in the workspace.
