Wendy is currently the CEO of LeadingBiotech, formerly the Boston Biotech Conferences, and President, Life Sciences Boston, Knowledge & Networking Division, Informa.
Wendy Webber Nelson, PhD, is the President and Founder of the Boston Biotech Forum. Formerly named the Boston Cambridge Bioanalytical Discussion Group, the dinner meeting was initiated in 2011 to address pertinent industry topics with technical experts from many local biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies while also incorporating an element of networking. Participation is by invitation only, and each event is limited to 40-45 people to maintain an intimate and collaborative setting for presentation and discussion of relevant subjects. The distribution list includes over 500 professionals from over 140 local biotech and pharma companies, venture capital and consulting firms.
Wendy is also currently the CEO of LeadingBiotech, formerly the Boston Biotech Conferences, and President, Life Sciences Boston, Knowledge & Networking Division, Informa. Wendy also runs the Biopharm Executive Council and is a Venture Partner for Waterman Ventures. The Boston Biotech Forum has multiple sponsors, including ChemPartner, RSM US LLP, Choate, Dechert, Park Square, Conner Strong & Buckelew and is also backed by JP Morgan Securities.
Wendy has nearly 20 years of business development, project management, operational, and R&D experience in biotechnology and large pharma companies, as well as in global CROs. Prior to assuming the CEO position at LeadingBiotech, Wendy was in business development roles of increasing responsibility for the past 10 years, most recently as the VP of Business Development, Marketing and Strategic Alliance for Frontage Laboratories. Prior to her roles in business development, Wendy was with Alantos Pharmaceuticals where she was responsible for Project Management and Operations of the two company programs and participated in many aspects of the post-merger integration following the $300M acquisition of Alantos by Amgen in 2007. She began her career in R&D at Alkermes, where she worked in formulations.
Wendy (WL Webber) is an inventor on multiple patents and patent applications, and is the senior author of a number of scientific publications. Wendy served several years on the organizational committees for both the Progeria Research Foundation and MIT Enterprise Forum. She also participates in the MassCONNECT mentoring program through MassBio. Dr. Nelson received her ScB and MS in Engineering and PhD in Medical Sciences all from Brown University.
