Matthew Key is currently a non-executive director of Burberry and was previously the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Telefonica Europe plc.

During his time as CEO of O2, the company secured the deal with Steve Jobs at Apple for being the first carrier to bring the iPhone to the UK. He was also the boss who pushed through the sponsorship of the Millennium Dome to be called the O2.  

Prior to this, Mr Key was the Chief Executive Officer of the UK business, a position he held since February 2005. Mr Key joined the company in February 2002, as Chief Financial Officer, where he was responsible for strategy, business development, regulatory functions, and the establishment of the Tesco Mobile joint venture.
