Brent Hoberman

Lastminute.com, MADE.com & FoundersFactory

Brent Hoberman joined LeadersIn to discuss why HR and ROI are the enemies of innovation, why corporates should work more with start-ups, and why he preferred to chair – rather than be CEO – of his own companies. Brent also identifies that top leaders are passionate but also tend to be a little bit unhinged.

Brent Co-founded lastminute.com in April 1998 with Martha Lane Fox. As CEO, Brent took the company to profit and engineered gross bookings of over $2bn. Lastminute.com was floated in March 2000 and in 2005 was sold to Sabre for $1.1bn.

Brent most recently founded another VC-backed internet based startup, mydeco, the online interiors site that will revolutionise the way we shop and design for our homes. Brent is also the Chairman of MADE.com as well as being on the board of top-notch places like the Economist.

His most recent enterprise is the Founders Factory which is revolutionising how start-ups get off the ground (and how big companies do innovation).
