Hi Lucy, we asked Daniel Goleman (the Author of Emotional intelligence) this question for you - when you have a few minutes, this is worth watching: http://leadersin.com/programmes/daniel-goleman-on-why-you-have-to-use-thought-and-feelings-in-decision-making

Hi Lucy, I haven't watched the Daniel Goleman interview yet so it will be interesting to see what he has to say as the thought leader in EI but I thought I would pass on my experience. I have always been amazed that many people will come forward with a proposal without all the pertinent facts and then say - what do you think we should do? The only answer to that is go away and put together the business case and the decision will probably become apparent as a result. If it does not, then more emotion comes into the decision. I say more because no-one, however fact based, actually makes a decision without some gut feeling. They are fooling themselves if they think they do.

It's an impossible question to answer with a precise proportion as it depends on the facts!

    All the best, D
